Did you know that Australian dogs poo the weight of the Sydney Harbour Bridge each month?! This is around 52000 tonnes or equivalent to around 1734 tonnes per day.

Dog poo that goes into the red waste bin ends up in landfill and continues to produce methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. All that dog poo can be recycled for compost either through green waste collection at the dog park in a dedicated poo bin or at-home pet poo composting bins.

Inner West dog owners are responsible but Council should be doing more to make it easier to dispose of dog poo sustainably.

The Greens will:

✅   Roll out a Council wide pet poo composting trial along with signage to educate dog owners and the general public

✅   Replace single use plastic with compostable bags everywhere where bags are provided
