The urban areas of Anna Bay, Tilligerry and Medowie are increasingly devoid of trees. Trees provide shade, habitat and food for fauna and oxygen as well as beauty and pride. They cool their surrounds and store carbon.
When elected I will initiate a programme to line our streets in Central ward with carefully chosen small to medium trees. This could include:
- native food trees,
- suitable native and ornamental shade trees,
- propagation by Council owned Ngoika Centre, or Tilligerry Habitat,
- planting out and community education by Council supported voluntary parks and reserves groups.
