We need to solve the housing crisis

With the Shoalhaven experiencing a homelessness and housing affordability crisis, we are calling on the NSW Government to help fund a new crisis accommodation shelter in Jervis Bay and St Georges Basin.

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit vulnerable local people in the Shoalhaven hard – particularly those in insecure, low-paid jobs who may already be facing housing stress or may be at risk of homelessness.

These people need a safe place to call home while they get back on their feet. Funding from the Government can help to build a new crisis accommodation shelter in the Jervis Bay and St Georges Basin area for those at risk of homelessness.

Will you sign our petition and urge the Government to help fund crucial housing projects for the most vulnerable in our community?

Dear Minister,

The Shoalhaven is experiencing a homelessness and housing affordability crisis. COVID-19 lockdowns have hit those with insecure, low paid work the hardest. At the same time, many people have taken advantage of work from home arrangements to move away from Sydney and other regional centres, causing house and rental prices to skyrocket across regions like ours.

Too many vulnerable local people are left living in unsafe and unstable circumstances.

We urge you to help fund an urgently needed new crisis accommodation shelter to support those in those Jervis Bay and St Georges Basin region of the Shoalhaven experiencing homelessness.

Yours for a fairer, more inclusive Shoalhaven,
