Heather Champion

Councillor for Wingecarribee

I’m running for council because I want to help build a fairer, greener future for our kids and for all of us.

I live in Mittagong with my young family and I’m passionate about building a council that works for the people who need it, and nurtures the environment we love and rely on.My professional life has been varied – following a degree in psychology, I’ve worked in book publishing, international aid, and run my own small business. For the last decade I’ve focussed on what I care about most: advocating for better policies to support women and families. Now I want to bring that knowledge and energy to our council. That’s why the Greens aim to involve residents in building a better plan for our shire. We’re pursuing a long-term vision for Wingecarribee as a sustainable, connected and vibrant place to live.I feel lucky to live on spectacular Gundungurra country, raising my baby daughter in the Southern Highlands with my partner Ollie and my small dog, Agnes. We’re often seen walking local bush trails together or playing in the parks around Mittagong. When I have a spare moment, I love to play violin, throw pottery or ride my bike.
