Great public spaces are vital for mental health, community building and economic activity.
We’ll make our town and village centres thriving, safe and inviting spaces, and maintain our public spaces so they can be a place for everyone.
On Council, we will:
- Improve parking and ensure safe and easy access for everyone
- Make sure our town and village centres are clean and well lit, with safe and
accessible pathways - Increase greenery and shade so you can park somewhere cool and walk
comfortably to where you need to go - Use street art and music to revitalise public spaces
- Invest in public toilets that are accessible and open to the public
- Commitment to high standards of maintenance and cleanliness
- Invest in more facilities like BBQs, play equipment and seating
- Increase facilities along the river, with easy access pathways for everyone to enjoy
- Invest in parks and shade sails so every kid has a shady place to play
OUR PLANS AND PRIORITIES
My Journey to the Greens – Simon Chate
Why I joined the Greens I grew up in Mosman, Sydney, the son of a rusted on Liberal-voting widow. As a kid, I spent as much of my time outdoors, exploring the local bush and taking full advantage of the standard 70’s “Don’t come back until dinner time” mentality. I...
January 2026 – Nola Firth
January 2026 I've had a win recently. After attending a Planet Ark circular economy conference I began working for textile recycling on our shire. We have donation points at our charities but most of the material isn’t saleable and goes to landfill. After gaining...
My journey to the Greens – Arthur Bain
My journey to the Greens Was there life before the Greens? It’s hard to imagine now, but yes there was, and not as fulfilling as life is now. I grew up with strong social justice values, staunch union member and although never a member, a traditional Labor voter. As a...
My Journey to the Greens – January 2026
Greener and Greener This morning I went to pay my respects to old Blotchy for the first time this year. Old blotchy is a monumental spotted gum among many! He's maybe 500 years old and 14 people arms outstretched in circumference. We both live on the lands of the...
Why I joined the Greens – December 2025
I think I was predestined to join the Greens. My father was born in the west of Poland, then under German control, in 1915. He grew up in a small village, and told stories about going hungry, not having shoes and his family having to dig themselves out of the house...
Support pedestrian safety for Glover and Mary Streets
We all want to be safe getting around our local community especially around the Leichhardt Aquatic centre when there are so many children and young people.
Free Pool Entry Days for Inner West Aquatic Centre
Do you think Council should investigate a trial for free pool entry at Inner West Aquatic Centres?
We Need A Youth Centre in Ashfield
We are calling for a Youth Centre in Ashfield that is designed alongside young people and practitioners in the community.
