You deserve a council that advocates for the inclusion of all voices. Young people are underrepresented at all levels of government, despite being the future leaders of the Hawkesbury.
Young people have continuously highlighted a lack of mental health support, activities, employment opportunities, social isolation and inadequate transport as points of concern.
On Council, we will:
- Create a youth consultation and participation strategy,
- Create a Youth Council that will afford young residents the opportunity to directly influence the decisions that impact you, ensuring future generations inherit a Hawkesbury built for your future.
- Put intergenerational equity at the heart of our decision making,
- Include young people on all Council committees.
- Create dedicated youth spaces to provide young people with safe places to socialise, organise activities and congregate.
OUR PLANS AND PRIORITIES
Support pedestrian safety for Glover and Mary Streets
We all want to be safe getting around our local community especially around the Leichhardt Aquatic centre when there are so many children and young people.
Free Pool Entry Days for Inner West Aquatic Centre
Do you think Council should investigate a trial for free pool entry at Inner West Aquatic Centres?
We Need A Youth Centre in Ashfield
We are calling for a Youth Centre in Ashfield that is designed alongside young people and practitioners in the community.

Build rent-capped, accessible council homes
We have a plan for council to directly address the housing crisis, by buying, investing in and building public homes.
Low cost renewable energy for renters
We have a plan to build a council-run community battery and solar network.
Reclaim our streets for people and nature
We have a plan to encourage the use of streets for community events. And we’ll reduce excessive visual pollution from advertising.
Active transport policy
The Inner West is an amazing place to live: vibrant and full of diversity. We’re lucky to live in a welcoming community where people care for one another and stand up for what matters.
Our plan starts with a vision to make our community a leader in climate action. It includes a plan to stop overdevelopment, care for people and invest in our parks and greenspace.
