Greens Councillors have ensured action on climate change remains at the forefront of Council’s agenda. In 2019 Woollahra Council declared a state of climate emergency and committed to taking further action to address the climate crisis. Climate Change mitigation is now an aim in Woollahra’s Local Environment Plan, meaning new developments must meet urban greening objectives. There is always more to be done, and in the next term of Council Greens will advocate for:

  • The roll out of public EV charging facilities to get more petrol cars off our roads
  • An urban forest strategy to maintain and enhance our tree canopy
  • Abolition of all single-use plastic
  • A national net zero emissions target achieved by 2050
