Hi, my name is Conroy, and I’m a young person, an activist, and your Local Greens Councillor on Canterbury-Bankstown Council. As a local who has always lived in this area, I’ve seen our beautiful community become more and more forgotten about . From poor planning reforms, which put developers first above liveable cities, and to a forced merger. From forcing a costly and hugely inconvenient metro conversion upon us, rather than investing in signalling repairs, and to continuing broken promises about upgrades to our local hospital, and our local river. All of this sparked a passion in my heart to run for Council, and fight for change.
On council, some of my priorities have been fighting to increase tree canopy, to cool our hot urban environment, pushing back against cuts to childcare services, and improving waste management to address litter, particularly along our beautiful river.
I’ve also been using my role to lobby the state and federal governments for priorities of our local residents, including opposing Chris Minns’ blanket and undemocratic planning reforms, fighting for better active transport, fighting for a cleaner river, supporting Palestine justice, and giving our local nurses, and childhood educators a fair pay.
