IT’S NOT RIGHT – THIS LAND BELONGS TO ALL OF OUR COMMUNITY

Is it fair that a private club can develop an elite facility on precious public green space in Fred Caterson Reserve?

Hundreds of trees will be cleared, roads will choke with traffic, noise pollution and bright lighting will seriously impact the people and wildlife who live there.

Community land should benefit the community, not just members of a private club.

As highrise development grows around the Metro  – so will the need for green open space.

Platypus swim in the creek, Powerful Owl nests here, Swamp wallabies graze and birds sing. Urban forests like this are rare and precious.

Community sports fields can be used by everyone and co-exist with nature.

An inappropriate exclusive facility simply doesn’t belong here.

We call on council to:

  • Listen to the community and put their needs before those of a private club.
  • Keep this land for community level sport or as a family nature park
  • Save the hundreds of trees that will be cut down for the current proposal
  • Protect platypus and ban synthetic fields on this site
  • Recognize the value of nature in this reserve for human health and wellbeing and preserve it for future generations.
