The Greens for Queanbeyan-Palerang today announced their team for the 14 September Local Government elections, led by Greens Councillor Katrina Willis.

Protecting nature, housing for all and climate action are key priorities for this election at which we’re working to double our representation so that we can achieve even more next term.

“The Greens have worked with other progressive councillors to reduce Council’s greenhouse gas emissions, create a plan for affordable housing and extend cat containment to all new housing areas,“ Cr Willis said.

“On Council, The Greens have helped reduce the cost of community centres for residents, abolish library fines, restore the community donations program and invest more in local heritage, arts and culture.

“A clear message at the last council election in 2021 was that smaller communities felt overlooked and unheard. In this term, Council has listened to communities and is working to meet their needs.

“I am seeking re-election to build on these achievements to: cut greenhouse emissions faster; build more footpaths and bike paths; improve resource recovery; extend cat containment across our council area and; secure a better financial deal for local councils and communities.

“Electing more Greens to Council on 14 September will give us an even better opportunity to protect our local environment and create a more sustainable and caring community.”

The Greens team for Queanbeyan-Palerang includes people from different towns and backgrounds across our local government area. They each have a strong commitment to safeguarding our environment and community interests, and achieving social justice for all people.
