Judy Greenwood

Candidate for City of Parramatta Council - Parramatta Ward

I am dedicated to preserving and enhancing our community's natural spaces and community services, safeguarding what makes it unique. Balancing development, community needs, and green areas is crucial, and together, we can strike that balance effectively.

In 2020, I relocated to Parramatta, captivated by its natural beauty, rich heritage, and vibrant cultural tapestry. Since then, Parramatta has continually impressed me with its prosperity and potential.
As a lifelong grassroots activist, I have championed causes ranging from bush regeneration and community gardening to cycling advocacy and community welfare. I've served on the boards of organisations such as an Out Of School Care service and a No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS), and currently contribute to a charity focused on promoting the recovery and reuse of waste paint. Professionally, I specialise in developing environmental policy for government, leveraging my background as a research chemical engineer to grasp intricate technical details effectively. I served 10 years as a workplace delegate and 8 as a Central Councillor of the PSA. Im currently a workplace representative and Branch Councillor.
My previous tenure as a Councillor at Randwick City Council provided invaluable insights into the complexities of the NSW planning system, crucial knowledge for navigating Parramatta's redevelopment pressures. Serving as a Councillor was a privilege that allowed me to connect with diverse individuals and understand their aspirations intimately.
With your support, I aim to continue representing the Greens on the City of Parramatta Council, ensuring transparency, perspective, and community focus in decision-making. It's disheartening to witness the prioritisation of high-rise developments over community welfare and environmental conservation by many councillors.
