Support pedestrian safety for Glover and Mary Streets
We all want to be safe getting around our local community especially around the Leichhardt Aquatic centre when there are so many children and young people.
I’ve had a lot of reports by concerned pedestrians about how unsafe it can be navigating the corner of Glover Street and Mary Street Lilyfield where there is no footpath.
That’s why I proposed at the most recent meeting of the Inner West Council that a footpath costed and reported back to Council for consideration.
I was disappointed that the Labor majority voted against this commonsense proposal as they said their focus was addressing access to the skate park.
Considering Council is intending to spend $10 million of ratepayer money on an upgrade to Leichhardt Oval the least that could do is make sure people can walk there safely.
We need to let the Council know they can do better. Please sign my petition to ask Council to cost and deliver a footpath to make our community safer.
