We Need A Youth Centre in Ashfield

We are calling for a Youth Centre in Ashfield that is designed alongside young people and practitioners in the community.

On 28th of February young people, family members and youth practitioners gathered at Ashfield Town Hall to talk about how young people in the Inner West could be better supported.

In the context of a cost of living crisis young people are isolated. Increased pressures on young people and families – and the overall lack of free open ‘third spaces’ for young people to be supported to gather and socialise – it is more important than ever we are providing place based support.

“It is my priority to see the Inner West deliver a Youth Centre in the Ashfield area so young people have a consistent, safe, fun place to be.”

Solutions – What does the Community want this Youth Centre to look like?

Young people and the community want place based support and solutions.

We were told directly told by the community that young people want to be a part of building a sense of community through a Youth Centre.

Young people in the Inner West are calling for a space that is something they have been a part in creating – with varying levels of autonomy but support right there for when they need.
