Our beautiful bushlands, rivers, and wetlands are a big part of what makes the Hawkesbury so special. Protecting these environments is significant for mental and physical health as well as the maintenance of habitat and biodiversity.

On Council, we will:

  • Protect our koalas and fully fund a Koala Plan of Management
  • Prioritise compliance action against illegal vegetation removal and waste dumping
  • Opt out of the Rural Boundary Clearing Code
  • Strengthen planning requirements so development doesn’t compromise the
ecological integrity of the Hawkesbury river and its tributaries, and our precious world renowned wetlands
  • Plant more trees and increase tree canopy by funding Council’s Urban Greening policy
  • Reinstate the Environmental Advisory Committee
  • Work with the Riverkeeper and Western Sydney University to improve river health

Taking Action on Climate Change

Taking Action on Climate Change

Councils can lead the transition from fossil fuels to renewables. 2023 was the hottest year on record – it’s never been more important to elect Greens to all levels of government to push for further and faster action on the climate crisis.

Transparency and Integrity

Transparency and Integrity

Council is the closest level of government to the community. The Greens believe that everyday people deserve access to the Council processes which affect their everyday lives. Locals should be at the centre of decisions – not politicians or special interests.
