Everyone’s voice matters. We’ll engage in active consultation where the community can come together to really have a say about services, how our money is spent, and what the future of the Hawkesbury will be.
On Council, we will:
- Hold regular public meetings across the Hawkesbury to discuss local issues
- Make sure Council is a clear, prompt, respectful and responsive communicator
- Refocus on Council’s role as a service provider for our community
- Ensure integrity and transparency in all facets of Council’s work
- Worry less about social media and more about real social engagement
- Reinstate advisory committees, so Council decisions are informed by experts and people with lived experience
- Make sure decisions about expenditure, projects and public land are made in public, with information easily available

When I got the invitation to write a short piece on my journey to the Greens I was thrown right back to being a teenager in the UK…that’s a long way back now as I’ll be turning 70 in December. As a stroppy teenager I found my mother’s commitment and determination to...
My Journey to the Greens – Ryan Brooke
Ryan Brook - Greens Councillor on Tamworth Council I was a slow start within the Greens, but I'm making up that time now. I originally joined back in 2017, wanting to support the party I saw with both the policy platform and the actions in parliament that...
Why I joined the Greens Sujan Selventhiran – Cumberland Councillor
My journey with the Greens began long before I officially joined the party in 2014. In the years leading up to that, I was already volunteering, drawn in by something I hadn't found elsewhere in Australian politics, a willingness to stand on principle, even when it...
My Journey to the Greens – Liz Atkins, Inner West Greens Councillor
I come from a northern English working class background and came to Australia at 9 years old as a “ten pound Pom”. With grandparents on both sides who were staunch Labour (UK) voters all their lives but aspirational parents who came here to better themselves, from the...

My Journey to the Greens – Diedre Stuart
Why I joined the Greens I grew up as the fourth of eight children in a very Catholic, very patriarchal family. My family prayed a lot, attended lots of masses and some more, but discussion of politics and sex and religion were pretty non-existent Thankfully my...
My Journey to the Greens – Simon Chate
Why I joined the Greens I grew up in Mosman, Sydney, the son of a rusted on Liberal-voting widow. As a kid, I spent as much of my time outdoors, exploring the local bush and taking full advantage of the standard 70’s “Don’t come back until dinner time” mentality. I...
January 2026 – Nola Firth
January 2026 I've had a win recently. After attending a Planet Ark circular economy conference I began working for textile recycling on our shire. We have donation points at our charities but most of the material isn’t saleable and goes to landfill. After gaining...
My journey to the Greens – Arthur Bain
My journey to the Greens Was there life before the Greens? It’s hard to imagine now, but yes there was, and not as fulfilling as life is now. I grew up with strong social justice values, staunch union member and although never a member, a traditional Labor voter. As a...
