Tonia Gray

Councillor for Shoalhaven - Ward 1

Hi, I'm Tonia. Your Councillor for Ward 1.

This election is not only a generational opportunity for change, but also one of the most important local government elections of our time.
I am running for a second term on Council and am enormously proud of what the Greens have achieved. We are creating a socially just, economically sustainable, and ecologically responsible leadership model for the Shoalhaven.
Born and raised in Port Kembla I am a 7th generation south coast resident. I am a University Professor internationally renowned for my work studying the impact of the natural world on health and wellbeing.
The Greens have been the only party presenting real plans to tackle Climate Change and biodiversity loss and for creating future focused jobs, in areas like renewables and nature tourism.
We’ve put things on the agenda – short term rentals, heritage listing the Husky Church, preserving land from inappropriate development at Callala Bay , highlighting the flaws in agritourism, and stronger environment laws to combat Zombie DAs. More green spaces and improved maintenance of roads and infrastructure are among my top priorities.
My unwavering commitment is to listen respectfully to Shoalhaven constituents, so we can work together to build resilient communities and fiscally responsible leadership.
