Gemma-Lea Tolmie

Candidate for Tamworth

I'm a proud, well known and active member of the local Aboriginal community. I have Gomeroi, Dhunghutti, and Mandandanji bloodlines and I'm a staunch advocate for the rights and responsibilities of all people.

A vote for me is a vote for change. I will listen and I will act on your concerns so we can all benefit from a better Tamworth and better surrounding districts.
It's not hard to see on social media that local people want to not only be listened to, but valued for their opinions and contributions. I hope that if elected to council I will be able to provide local government with the expertise to include all voices in their future planning and development.
Community safety is also another key priority of mine and I believe we need to invest more time and resources into preventative programs to divert young people from engaging in crime before it becomes a problem.
I know all residents of Tamworth want better outcomes, outcomes that actually help families and provide tangible benefits and I would like to be a part of the group that advocates for those outcomes for all of us. It is my belief that having a younger and more diverse group of councillors locally would benefit us all, as it would allow for new ideas, solutions and perspectives on age old problems that seem to never get solved year after year.
