Llynda Nairn
Candidate for Cessnock Council - A Ward
Llynda lives in Millfield and loves the sense of community in Cessnock. She volunteers on the Millfield Community Hall Committee and with Wollombi Valley Artists.
'I want better local services.' Said Llynda. 'I want Bellbird, Millfield Paxton and Ellalong to have great playground facilities, all covered with shade cloth. I want quality accessible public toilets close to the playground at Carmichael Park, and at the parks and playgrounds in Millfield, Nulkaba, Ellalong and Mulbring. If elected I will push Council to have free period products available in all public toilets, and those in Council buildings such as the library, and swimming pools.
I'm a people person and I talk to people. I've heard the overwhelming message that people do not feel heard. Their concerns are brushed aside, whether it's poor drainage made worse by overdevelopment or a lack of facilities for young teens. Some are angry about decisions made with little consultation with the community.
Cessnock is one of the regions where development is being pushed, by the State Government. Our council should ask more from the developers. And, we need more contributions from the NSW Government to build the much-needed infrastructure.
