My name is Dr Luke Robinson and I’m excited to be standing as a candidate for the Greens ticket in the upcoming Lismore City Council elections alongside our lead candidates Cr Adam Guise and Virginia Waters.

I decided to stand as a candidate as I believe in the fair, transparent and consultative operation of our council. Council representatives need to be looking after all of our residents, our beautiful natural home and ensuring that commercial interests are pursued with care and free from any conflict of interest.

Working as a specialist Emergency Physician at Lismore Base Hospital emergency department I frequently see the ill-effects on patients and their loved ones of under-investment in public services by all levels of government. Lack of housing in particular has major deleterious effects on both physical and mental health which has been all too evident since the 2022 floods. Council must step up and play its part in addressing this to support our community.

Between my substantive position as a doctor and the responsibilities of living on the land I am a musician and poet. The creativity of the people in this LGA is phenomenal, I pay tribute to their contribution bringing colour, energy and community connection making Lismore an exciting place to be.

My partner and I are fortunate to live in the beautiful wilds of Whian Whian. We are privileged to be part of a vibrant, supportive community, passionate about the restoration of Big Scrub rainforest and the protection of both it and Widjabul Wia-bal sacred sites from the building of a destructive, expensive and unnecessary Dunoon Dam.

Together with my fellow Green and progressive councillors, I look forward to being a representative for our community on a rejuvenated Council that truly cares for its people and this special part of the world we call home
