Nicola Grieve

Councillor for Woollahra - Cooper Ward

I love our beautiful part of Sydney, from our heritage village to beautiful bushland of Cooper Park and the engaged local community, it's a privilege to work with you to make this a place so special.

Woollahra has always faced the devastating impacts of rampant overdevelopment, but now we have to add housing affordability, climate change impacts, the real risks to heritage and neighbourhood character and no permanent affordable housing delivered under the proposed State Government blanket planning reforms. To top it off - the push by local Liberals to reduce the number of Councillors across our diverse LGA and destroy Woollahra's ward system.
Council is responsible for so much of what happens in our daily lives, and it should reflect who we are as a community. This means protecting heritage, creating parks, playgrounds and community spaces that are inclusive and safe, and bike and footpaths to get around. It also means listening to community concerns and working together to find a solution.
There's more to do. We need to plant more trees by implementing the Urban Forest Strategy. We need to stop developers and corporate interests writing the rules.
As your Greens Councillor I'm proud to defend our local democracy whatever it takes and fight whatever the NSW planning systems throws our way next, and always make action on climate change a top priority for Woollahra Council.
