Takesa Frank

Candidate for Shoalhaven - Ward 3

Hi, I'm Takesa. Your candidate for Ward 3.

I am a proud young Aboriginal woman from a close-knit family of six, deeply connected to Yuin Country in the Shoalhaven. I have been working in the community from a young age and am dedicated to advocating for the interests of young people and the environment while working to build a better community for us all.
I am running for Council because my work with young people has shown me the importance of having their voices heard and acknowledged. Collaborating with political representatives and actively participating in policy discussions has provided me with valuable insights into effecting meaningful change within our community.
My Bachelor's degree in Geography has fuelled my commitment to environmental preservation and cultural protection. Over the years, I've championed causes such as protecting native forests, advocating for Aboriginal Sacred Sites, promoting youth mental well-being, and fostering opportunities for young people in regional areas.
In 2023, I was awarded the prestigious Bob Brown Foundation's Young Environmentalist of the Year award for my work to protect native forests.
With a unique blend of public speaking skills, a strong sense of commitment, and a genuine desire to create a more inclusive and sustainable future for Shoalhaven residents, I aim to amplify the voices of our youth and contribute to building a better, more representative community.
