Sam Ryot

Candidate for Wagga City Council

The Greens have fair and equitable policies for all. Not only the environment and climate change, but social justice, health and education to name a few.

For too long the major parties have lied about espousing local government. Big government and big companies in bed together to better themselves and their mates, in our local government.
Sam Ryot is a proud member of the Wagga Wagga community. Having lived and worked in the area these past 40 years ensures that he knows the community in which we live and the complexities of being a rural and regional Australian citizen. A jack of all trades who has had work experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, the surveying industries and also has an information technology degree. As a third generation immigrant, Sam understands the difficulties that surround people that are new to Australia. Being the eldest son in a family of six, Sam has the ability to communicate and negotiate with others. Sam Ryot has the attitude and resilience to tackle the issues that affect/effect everyone in the community.
This includes seeking answers in regards to the lack of hospital staff at the new Wagga Base Hospital, the lack of accessible housing, and the need for investment in the areas of transportation such as roads, rail network and airport.
Sam has been involved in every election since becoming a member of the Greens NSW and in this local government election is campaign co-convenor, digital coordinator, nominations coordinator, and is running second on the ticket. He is also on the Greens NSW Strategic Plan steering committee bringing the perspective of rural and regional NSW to the upper echelons of Greens NSW policy planning.
Sam strongly adheres to the Greens NSW four pillars of truth and social justice, protecting the environment from climate change, defending the world through peace and disarmament and grassroots participatory democracy. Sam especially appreciates the Greens NSW methods of ensuring that all voices can be heard. From close contact with MPs through to State Delegates Council where the Greens NSW decisions are made, the Greens NSW endeavours to make sure that the Greens are an inclusive and accepting organisation, that represents the best interests of the whole community.
From the paddock to parliament this young man is ready to help the people and the planet.

    Tackling the Housing Crisis

The housing crisis is breaking people, and governments at all levels are tinkering around the edges instead of making the big changes we need to address housing affordability.
