I have been a resident of the Hills Shire North Ward for over 17 years, actively engaging in community volunteer work and contributing to various local initiatives. As a cancer researcher, I understand the vital connection between our health and environment. Our well-being is intrinsically linked to the quality of our surroundings, and maintaining a healthy environment is essential for leading healthy lives.

Today is even more apparent the importance of having accessible green spaces, youth facilities, well-maintained footpaths, bike lanes, shaded streets, and vibrant community hubs for healthy living. These elements are crucial for fostering a healthy and sustainable community.

As a candidate for the Hills Shire Council, North Ward, my focus is on environmentally sustainable living within a balanced framework for both residents and businesses. If elected, I will advocate for the following changes:

• Preserve Fred Caterson Reserve: Public lands belong to the people of the Hills Shire and should remain accessible to all residents, not just private clubs. We must prioritize people over profit.

• Combat Extreme Heat: Implement a comprehensive strategy to address heat effects in western suburbs, including the creation of more parks, trees, and waterways to absorb heat and radiation.

• Protect and Expand Green Spaces: Retain existing bushlands and ensure that future developments incorporate more green spaces.
