Candidate for Hills Shire Council – East Ward

Greens on Council will drive a change in local Government towards being more transparent, inclusive and focused on protecting our bushland and green spaces. Developer interests, private corporations and a dominance of one political party on the council which does not represent the diversity of residents in The Hills.

The Hills Shire is a wonderful place to live, and I'm proud to call it home. As a mother of three boys and a teacher, I care deeply about its future.
Our local government needs to be be ethical, transparent and inclusive, and genuinely listen to the community. This term, our only Greens Councillor Dr Mila Kasby proved just how committed the Greens are in putting the community first. We need more Greens on council to put residents at the heart of decision-making and to rebuild trust in local democracy. Together we can change the status quo and deliver a balanced council genuinely focussed on the wellbeing of The Hills.
We are at a crossroads. Parts of the Hills Shire are zoned for high density growth and it's crucial this happens in a way that safeguards our family friendly neighbourhood and our proud reputation as the Garden Shire. Big challenges bring great opportunities, if councillors stand for local interests, not vested ones.
The Greens will champion affordable housing while protecting our green spaces, and will reduce emissions, create local jobs and enhance our main streets and communal spaces - all connected by safe footpaths & cycleways.
We're committed to working with you on the local issues that matter most. Transparency and integrity in local government, genuinely listening to community concerns. Make housing affordable. Lower childcare costs. Protect and preserve our green spaces and wildlife. Have a net zero climate plan and help families switch to renewables.

    Tackling the Housing Crisis

The housing crisis is breaking people, and governments at all levels are tinkering around the edges instead of making the big changes we need to address housing affordability.
