Wagga Wagga City Council
OUR CANDIDATES
Jenny McKinnon
In the last term of Council, Jenny proved to be the only progressive voice for the community. Hers was the only vote for cat management, support for Gaza/Palestine, and management of synthetic turf playing fields. No other Councillor would second her motion on no gas in new subdivisions, so it wasn’t even debated. Only one other Councillor supported her motion for Wagga to say no to nuclear.
Sam Ryot
The Greens have fair and equitable policies for all. Not only the environment and climate change, but social justice, health and education to name a few.
George Benedyka
George was born and bred in Wagga and attended local schools. He was also involved from a young age in the Scouting movement, and he went on to be awarded the highest honours of Queens Scout and the Baden Powell award. He retired from work following a career as a project designer with the roads authority.
Virginia Gawler
I am running as a Greens candidate for the Wagga Wagga City Council election because I believe in the concept of ‘thinking globally and acting locally’.
Emma Rush
I have lived in Wagga Wagga since 2009, working as a lecturer at Charles Sturt University teaching ethics and philosophy.
WE’RE CAMPAIGNING FOR…
Protecting our Environment
Greens Councillors have a long history of standing up for the environment – often when nobody else will.
Tackling the Housing Crisis
The housing crisis is breaking people, and governments at all levels are tinkering around the edges instead of making the big changes we need to address housing affordability.
Bringing Down the Cost of Living
We are in a cost-of-living crisis, and local governments should be doing what they can to ensure that everyday people can afford to get by.
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
TOGETHER, WE’RE POWERFUL.
People want strong action on the cost of living and climate crises, and a council that represents their values.
